A skier has died in an avalanche on a mountain in Wyoming, local emergency services have reported.
Teton County Search & Rescue issued a statement, saying they were alerted to a "known avalanche burial" on Togwotee Pass in the Absaroka Mountains around midday on Saturday.
The avalanche was triggered by a group of four skiers ascending the slope.
"The avalanche partially buried one skier and fully buried another. The skier who was partially buried sustained a lower leg injury," the statement said.
The body of the deceased skier has been recovered.
While Wyoming is not in the path of the current winter storm, ski resorts across regions from Oregon to Vermont have experienced snowpacks exceeding 100 inches (254 cm) this season.
